Assistant Professor Terrie Poehl is a member of the College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) faculty, working to help Northwestern State University’s teacher candidates prepare for their teaching careers. She teaches introductory education courses, methods courses for undergraduate candidates and graduate level seminars. Dr. Poehl has worked with teacher candidates for more than twelve years.

Dr. Poehl serves as a Board of Examiner (BOE) member for National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) representing the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). She is also an NCATE lead program reviewer for NCTM, as well as a frequent presenter at NCTM regional and national conferences.

Dr. Poehl has a keen interest in, and is a strong advocate of, using handheld technology in mathematics and science classes at all grade levels. She is a Teachers Teaching with Technology (T3) regional instructor and has presented multiple times at Texas Instruments’ T3 International Conferences. An enthusiastic educator, Dr. Poehl strives to bring forth in her students both a love of learning and an enthusiasm for sharing what they have learned.
