Welcome to the Department of Teaching and Learning!

Are you interested in becoming a certified teacher? If so, we offer undergraduate and graduate programs leading to Louisiana teacher licensure. NSU began as a teacher training school known as a "normal school" more than 125 years ago. The legacy continues today.

Teacher licensure is available through either an undergraduate degree or through an alternative certification pathway, which includes an online Master of Art in Teaching (MAT) degree or a summer-intensive, on-campus "fast-track" practitioner program (PREP) or a non-master's pathway in music education. Online M.Ed. degrees are offered in Early Childhood Education, Special Education and Curriculum & Instruction If you are interested in an "add on" certification,"  NSU offers multiple options.
